Consultant Spotlight: Mr Daren Forward

Mr Daren Forward has worked with TLA Medicolegal for over six years and specialises in complex trauma and has a tertiary referral practice for patients with pelvic and acetabular fractures, complex joint injuries and fractures that have failed to heal (non-union).


Daren is a full-time NHS consultant in Orthopaedic Trauma at one of the busiest Major Trauma Centres in Nottingham, England.


He is on-call for emergencies at frequent intervals including as a Major Trauma Consultant, dealing with multi-system injuries including head, chest, abdomen, and spine, as well as all orthopaedic injuries.


Daren qualified from Oxford University Medical School before training in Nottingham and completed his training as a fellow at the Shock Trauma Centre and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, USA.


He was also a research fellow at the University of Nottingham, completing a Doctor of Medicine thesis on the long-term outcome of fractures of the distal radius, and an Honorary Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham.


He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, the Orthopaedic Trauma Association of North America, and the Orthopaedic Trauma Society (UK).


His research portfolio includes 40 published scientific papers and abstracts, and he has authored textbook chapters on trauma.  He continues to be active in research in this field.  He lectures on trauma and is a peer reviewer for academic journals.  Mr Forward is an experienced teacher on national and international courses on the treatment of trauma.


Mr Forward completes 350 personal injury reports a year: 50% joint instruction, 30% claimant and 20% defending, as well a 30 clinical negligence cases a year.
